Through Diversity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Wednesday, 6 February, 2019, VMS will be honouring\n<a href=\"https:\/\/worldinterfaithharmonyweek.com\/\">World Interfaith Harmony Week<\/a>,\nby hosting the \u201cLet\u2019s Talk Through Diversity\u201d event in collaboration with UVic\nMultifaith Services, the Community Partnership Network of ICA, and UVic Equity\nand Human Rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" src=\"https:\/\/victoriamultifaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Poster-Final-300x232.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-781\" srcset=\"https:\/\/victoriamultifaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Poster-Final-300x232.jpg 300w, https:\/\/victoriamultifaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Poster-Final-768x593.jpg 768w, https:\/\/victoriamultifaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Poster-Final-1024x791.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/victoriamultifaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Poster-Final-388x300.jpg 388w, https:\/\/victoriamultifaith.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Poster-Final.jpg 1650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The week is observed annually by the UN from\nFebruary 1 \u2013 7. &nbsp;VMS has been celebrating\nit for several years with a large weekend event featuring a multifaith panel,\nrefreshments and displays. This year we\u2019ve changed to mid-week, gearing the\nevent towards young people and students through a more intimate and interactive\nprogram, to include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Keynote speaker Dr. John Borrows, Canada\nResearch Chair in Indigenous Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of\nVictoria and a global leader in Indigenous law. Dr. Borrows will speak on <em>\u201cWhat has the process of Reconciliation\ntaught us about talking to one another &amp; creating harmony?\u201d<\/em><\/li><li>East Indian meal with small group\ndiscussions: <em>\u201cWhat\u2019s been learned?\u201d<\/em><\/li><li>Student Panel from five different\nfaith traditions speaking on <em>\u201cWhat from\nmy spiritual tradition helps us talk through diversity?\u201d<\/em><\/li><li>Facilitated global caf\u00e9 style\ndiscussion groups<\/li><li>Interactive activities: Turban\nHow-To\u2019s, Headscarf Helpers, and Henna Hand-painting!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will be held at the UVic Interfaith\nChapel, located at the entrance to Finnerty Gardens, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00\np.m., Wed. 6 Feb. 2019.
