You are invited to a presentation and discussion on \u201cMottainai: Honouring Life<\/em><\/strong>\u201d, to take place on Saturday, February 22nd<\/sup><\/em><\/strong>, at the\u00a0Cook St. Village Activity Centre, <\/span>380\u00a0Cook<\/span>\u00a0St<\/span><\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The talk is sponsored by the Bah\u00e1\u2019\u00ed Community of Victoria, one of a series of presentations to highlight the essential oneness of humanity. Issues are presented in the context of Bah\u00e1\u2019\u00ed thought on the subject, followed by discussion and refreshments.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Wastefulness is one of the banes of modern life, the opposite of honouring the sacred in all forms of existence. It\u2019s summed up in the Japanese expression \u201cMottainai\u201d or “Waste nothing”, which refers to much more than just material waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Dr.<\/span>\u00a0Mary-Wynne\u00a0Ashford, MD, Ph.D, is a physician and educator in Victoria. She was a professor at UVic from 1995 to 2000. Her award winning book, Enough Blood Shed: 101 Solutions to Violence<\/em>, Terror and War<\/em>, has been translated into Japanese and Korean. She\u2019s done TEDX talks in both <\/span>Vancouver<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>Victoria<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n
